Pep Guardiola wants Real Madrid midfield ace to run his Manchester City side

Pep Guardiola is set to continue his rebuild at Manchester City as he is reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos.

The Spanish tactician has already brought in Ilkay Gundogan from Dortmund in a move that will see the German international play an instrumental role in City’s midfield and style of play next season.

However, according to The Express, he is set to be joined by his international teammate next season, with Guardiola picking out Kroos as the ideal player to run his team through with his preferred passing style.

The former Bayern Munich star has been an important part of Real’s side since arriving in 2014, notably helping the Spanish giants win the Champions League last season.

Nevertheless, it is claimed by The Express that the deal could be wrapped up for the 26-year-old a few days after the conclusion of Euro 2016, where he is currently shining as Germany look to add the European crown to the World Cup that they won two years ago in Brazil.

Given Guardiola’s preferred way of playing and with the significant transfer funds at his disposal in Manchester, it was always likely that he would make big moves in the market this summer to build a squad that could carry out his ideas on the pitch.

As he continues to mould the squad and stamp his print on it with players that fit into his system and are more than capable of dominating possession and implementing his style and tactics, they are likely to be a real threat to their rivals next season if he can land his preferred targets.
