Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be a step closer to securing a reunion with Neven Subotic after the Dortmund defender revealed he will move on this summer.

The pair worked together during Klopp’s time at the Bundesliga outfit, and as the Germain tactician seeks reinforcements for his Liverpool squad this summer, it looks like an obvious move.

The 27-year-old has made over 250 appearances for the club since arriving in 2008, but has fallen out of favour since Thomas Tuchel replaced Klopp at the helm last year.

“I’ve come to realise over the last year that my love for football and for my active role on the pitch is too big to just follow the events from outside,” Subotic wrote on his Facebook page.

“Football is an important building block of my life which I love and don’t want to be without.

“I am at the best footballing age right now and want to use that time to further myself and my club, and to have the feeling to be needed on the pitch, and be able to give it my all for the club.

“That’s what I am thinking about right now.

“I don’t want to earn my money on the bench, but rather want to be an active part of a story, as was the case until last year.

“I hope you can relate to it and understand it. BVB is in my heart, and will always remain there.”

The Serbian international has been linked with a move to Anfield for months, with the Metro stating that a switch was possible as long ago as April.

His latest comments will only further strengthen that possibility, with Klopp certainly in need of experience and quality to bolster his backline ahead of his first full season in charge next year.
