Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic has struggled to get onto the field for a variety of reasons since Jurgen Klopp left. Since Klopp became the manager of Liverpool, he has begun targeting Subotic and some of his other players for transfer in the January and summer transfer windows. However, the latest report out of Germany could prove to be a major boon for Klopp in January.
According to the Metro, Subotic is expected to leave Borussia Dortmund in January and Liverpool is believed to be his prime destination. The source reports that Subotic will likely be available for a price tag of £3.5 million.
Subotic and Klopp arrived at Dortmund within one month of each other back in 2008, and the pair would go on to win two Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal, and two DFL-Supercups. Subotic was also a key player for Klopp in their 2012-13 Champions League run, culminating in a loss to Bayern Munich in the Final.
Over the last few seasons, however, Subotic has been ravaged by injuries and dry spells, which has resulted in limited first-team appearances.
