Pep Guardiola era at Manchester City starts this weekend at official unveiling

Manchester City will officially unveil Pep Guardiola as their new coach this weekend at a two-day event at the club’s Etihad Academy.

The excitement is building at the club ahead of the new campaign, with City confirming the signing of Nolito on Friday to add to their acquisition of Ilkay Gundogan earlier this month.

As the Guardiola revolution continues to gather pace, City fans will get their first peak at the Spaniard as thousands have bought tickets to attend a weekend of events that will also see the new club badge and home shirt unveiled.

However, naturally, the highlight for many will be Guardiola greeting fans and holding a Q&A as he is likely to outline his vision for the club moving forward and share his thoughts on how he intends on bringing them further success.

After memorable spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the Spanish tactician now arguably faces the toughest test of his managerial career to date.

Although still tough roles, the 45-year-old has benefited from having the strongest individuals and teams in his previous positions, whereas this time he will have a real battle on his hands.

From rebuilding the City squad to an extent to taking on some of the best tacticians in an ultra-competitive Premier League next season, Guardiola will need to be on top of his game if he is to take the club back to the top of English football.

Furthermore, he’ll also have an assignment of making progress in Europe, and so he’ll certainly hope to continue to strengthen the squad in the coming weeks as he finally gets to work in Manchester and pushes ahead with his plans.

“At Manchester City, we are embarking on an exciting new chapter in our history and we wanted to create an event that would allow thousands of fans to celebrate and participate in this, both here in Manchester and around the world,” chief executive Ferran Soriano told the media.

“Cityzens Weekend will provide the perfect setting for fans to welcome our new manager, Pep Guardiola, to the club and see the new kit and badge come to life across the Etihad Campus. We look forward to welcoming fans over the weekend and entering this new era together.”
