Liverpool defender to arrive in Istanbul tomorrow

Liverpool’s Slovakian international defender Martin Skrtel is set to complete his move to Fenerbahce this week.

A source close to Fenerbahce told Caught-Offside’s Eren Sarigul that the 31-year-old is expected to arrive in Istanbul tomorrow and join the Yellow Canaries pre-season training camp later this week.

Fenerbahce released a statement to the Istanbul stock exchange (via Fanatik) last week confirming negotiations with both Skrtel and Liverpool were underway.

Usually the statements of this nature are little more than a formality before the club actually announced confirmation of the actual transfer.

Srktel is set to become the third player to join Fenerbahce this summer after Roman Neustadter and PSG’s Gregory van der Wiel who joined last week.

The same source also revealed that Fenerbahce have now wrapped up their defensive transfers for the summer. The Yellow Canaries will compete in the Champions League last season after finishing the leagues as runners-up.
