Turkish giants join race for out-of-favour Chelsea striker

Turkish giants Trabzonspor have joined rivals Besiktas in the race for Chelsea striker Loic Remy according to Lig Tv.

The Turkish Super Lig broadcaster reports that Trabzonspor are preparing a rival loan bid for the out-of-favour Chelsea forward.

Unlike Besiktas, the Black Sea based side would not be able to offer Champions League football or the comforts of Istanbul.

Trabzonspor would however, be able to match the Black Eagles wages and potentially even offer a better deal.

Besiktas are expected to hold talks with Remy this week as they continue efforts to replace Mario Gomez who stated last week that he would not return to the club this summer.

Gomez spent last year at Besiktas on loan finishing the season as top goal scorer and lifting the league title.

The experienced striker earned a place back in the Germany national team as a result and scored twice at the European Championships this summer.

The Istanbul giants were close to loaning Remy last season but former Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho blocked the move.
