The FA have revealed that Mark Clattenburg will officiate the seasons first high profile derby clash between Manchester United and Manchester City according to SkySports.

The Manchester derby has taken on a more important role this season given the managers of the two clubs. Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola endured a frosty relationship while the duo were in La Liga.

The FA have therefore allocated one of England’s most experienced referees to officiate the high profile encounter. Clattenburg will be well versed in working under pressure in big games after refereeing the Euro 2016 final between France and Portugal.

Both Man Utd and Man City have gotten off to a perfect start in the Premier Leauge having recorded three wins in three games.

The Red Devil’s look to have the edge going into the game following a suspension to Man City’s star striker Sergio Aguero.

Mike Dean has been named fourth official for the tie, while Jake Collins and Steve Bennett will act as Clattenburg’s assistants.
