Montreal Impact star Didier Drogba had to be restrained after being involved in an ugly incident with two New York Red Bulls supporters on Sunday.
The former Chelsea striker was seen arguing with the two fans as he made his way back to the changing room after the game, but the argument soon heated up and security had to ensure that they remained apart.
“There were two fans who were showing their enthusiasm a little too much. They crossed the line a bit, that’s all,” he told the media after the game.
Impact lost the game 1-0 and so coupled with this incident, it was far from the ideal Sunday for the veteran forward.
It’s still unclear at this stage as to what the two men said to Drogba, but for him to react in such a way, perhaps it was serious. Nevertheless, there has been no indication from the player or club to suggest that they will take the matter further.
