(Video) Dimitri Payet ignores inferior teammates to earn West Ham draw v Boro but Hammers remain in relegation zone

West Ham United is a pretty rotten club to be around right now. But (when they are not booing or fighting) their fans rightly remind us all that they’ve “got Payet, Dimitri Payet”.

Payet is the epitome of a diamond in the rough. He is so much better than everyone and everything around him at London Stadium. And judging by the way he scored his latest wondergoal, he knows it.

The fabulous Frenchman ignored his inferior teammates to notch a quite stunning solo goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough.

As his fellow West Ham players stood around and watched, Payet dribbled past four Boro defenders before calmly slotting the ball beyond the goalkeeper.

Had this goal been scored in a more glamorous game, it would unquestionably he heralded as one of the greatest of all time.

As it was, it cancelled out Cristian Stuani’s 51st-minute opener to earn a 1-1 draw between two of the Premier League’s least inspiring sides.

West Ham remain in the relegation zone, while Boro are now just two places higher in 16th.
