Manchester United have suffered some serious issue in defence this season, seeing Eric Bailly go down injured after a solid start, while Chris Smalling has seemingly got issues with his manager after refusing to play injured last week.
The latest player to be linked with the Red Devils is Benfica’s Victor Lindelof, a 22 year old Swedish international who has also apparently attracted the attention of PSG and Chelsea.
One of their main priorities is to increase the amount of over they have in the position, to prevent Daley Blind constantly being forced to drop into the back four as he has done consistently since arriving at Old Trafford. This would also have the domino-like effect of freeing Blind up to play in midfield, where his characteristics are vitally needed by a United side that has turned to the ancient Michael Carrick in its desperate search for a ball playing, tempo controlling midfielder.
