Man United team news: FA bans mean Bastian Schweinsteiger set to start against West Ham

Bastian Schweinsteiger is reportedly in line to make his first appearance of the season when Manchester United host West Ham in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup tonight.

The former Germany captain, who was capped 121 times by his country, has not played at all during the Jose Mourinho era.

Schweinsteiger was not even allowed to train with the first team until recently, after United wrote him off as an asset, according to Sky Sports.

However, Sky are now claiming that Mourinho could call upon Schweinsteiger to start against West Ham this evening.

United find themselves short in midfield as Paul Pogba and Maroaune Fellaini are suspended.

Both players are banned after picking up their fifth yellow cards of the domestic season when United and West Ham drew 1-1 win the Premier League on Sunday.

Pogba was booked in the first half for diving, before Fellaini was also cautioned despite only entering the action as a 85th-minute sub.
