Pep Guardiola already has £40m Sergio Aguero replacement lined up in big-money Man City move

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly preparing a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if Sergio Aguero leaves.

The Argentine international’s future at the Etihad has come under doubt after being dropped to the bench for the last two games in favour of new recruit Gabriel Jesus.

While the teenager has made a stunning start to life in England with three goals in two games in the Premier League, it has only served to raise more question marks over Aguero.

According to The Sun, Guardiola is already making contingency plans in the event that the 28-year-old wishes to leave Manchester in the summer, as he’s targeting Dortmund striker Aubameyang to fill the void.

It’s added in the report that City will make a £40m bid for the Gabon international, who has continued to maintain a stunning goalscoring record during his time in the Bundesliga.

The 27-year-old has scored 21 goals in 24 appearances so far this season, taking his overall tally to 101 goals in 167 outings for the German giants.

In turn, it’s no surprise that he’s a wanted man and as noted in the report, he has hinted that he could be ready to move on sooner rather than later.

Aguero has been a terrific player for City and has written his name into the club’s history books. Further, there is undoubtedly a huge role for him to play at the club moving forward as they look to compete on various fronts in the coming years.

However, as witnessed against West Ham in particular, Guardiola’s side look devastating with pace and quality up front with Jesus combining with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.

While it would be a major decision to allow Aguero to leave, it would certainly seem to suit where they club should be going moving forward and Aubemeyang would be a major addition.
