(Video) Fellaini goal: Wasteful Man Utd bailed out as Middlesbrough defence breached

Man Utd created countless opportunities at Middlesbrough on Sunday but it was Marouane Fellaini who gave them a comfortable first-half lead.

Boro had their moments, but it was mostly one-way traffic with the likes of Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford linking up well, with the latter’s pace causing the Boro backline all sorts of problems.

However, after several missed opportunities and some top saves from Victor Valdes, it was Fellaini who nodded home at the back post to break the deadlock.

De Gea was called into action as he pulled off a stunning save to deny Gaston Ramirez, but United will be pleased with the opening 45 minutes.

Nevertheless, they will have to be wary and be more clinical in the final third after the break to put the game to bed as they will undoubtedly create more chances.

Jose Mourinho will be desperate to see his much-changed side secure all three points as they continue to push on in search of a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
