Chelsea manager Antonio Conte plots summer move to poach one-club man from Serie A heavyweights

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is keen on signing AS Roma veteran Daniele De Rossi in the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.

It seems unthinkable to picture De Rossi in any shirt other than Roma’s. The 33-year-old has made 554 appearances for the Serie A giants over a 16-year period – only compatriot Francesco Totti has taken to the field more times for Roma.

However, Calciomercato believe that De Rossi could be pulling on a Chelsea shirt next season. The Italian outlet report that his contract expires at the end of the season and he is yet to find an agreement with Roma over an extension – he could subsequently be on the move.

Calciomercato believe that Conte, who worked with De Rossi during his time with the Italian national team, is interested in signing him in the summer on a free transfer. De Rossi’s vast experience would be invaluable to any side.
