Man Utd prepare £50m bid for long-time Arsenal target, bad news in Griezmann pursuit

Man Utd are reportedly set to bid £50m to try and sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, leaving Arsenal frustrated after holding a long-time interest in the prolific forward.

The 24-year-old has been a star performer for the Ligue 1 outfit over the last three years, scoring 20+ goals in each of the three league campaigns.

In turn, that form has led to suggestions that he may be ready for the next step in his career, and that is likely to involve a move to England.

According to The Mirror, with doubts emerging over their ability to prise Antoine Griezmann away from Atletico Madrid, United are now prepared to look elsewhere and have settled on Lacazette as being one of their primary targets to add a clinical edge to their squad.

Several other names are mentioned in the report, and so it remains to be seen who the Red Devils settle on, but ultimately it looks as though they will be adding a top striker this summer after being left frustrated with their inability to break down and see off inferior sides in the Premier League on a regular basis this past season.

Lacazette would certainly address that problem, but so would the others on United’s supposed shortlist, and so time will tell who Mourinho will opt for.

Liverpool are also credited with an interest in the report, while Arsenal have been linked with a move since last summer. In turn, it looks as though United could use their financial muscle to swoop in ahead of both their rivals and finally reward Lacazette for his form in recent years with a major move to a European giant.
