Man Utd ace Anthony Martial may well have a point to prove this coming season, and he set the tone in the win over Real Madrid in the US on Sunday.
The 21-year-old didn’t have the impact that he would have wanted last season after making such a huge impression in his first campaign at Old Trafford.
With just eight goals and eight assists in 42 appearances in all competitions, the French international wasn’t able to play to his best ability, and in turn, he’ll be out to prove to Jose Mourinho that he deserves a regular spot in the year ahead.
He would have done his chances no harm on Sunday as he danced his way through the Real Madrid defence with some brilliant footwork, as seen in the clip below, before putting it on a plate for Jessie Lingard to open the scoring.

It’s more than likely that Romelu Lukaku will spearhead the Man Utd attack on a regular basis this season, but competition will be fierce to fill the roles around him as both Martial and Lingard made their case against the La Liga and European champions.
Victor Lindelof’s moment of madness allowed Casemiro to level things up from the spot for Madrid in the second half, but Mourinho’s men came out on top with a 2-1 penalty shoot-out victory.
There was a setback though as Ander Herrera was forced off shortly after coming on, and it remains to be seen how serious his injury is. Nevertheless, Man Utd will be pleased with the performance and result, while Martial will hope to continue to feature heavily.
