Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata is reportedly a surprise transfer target for Paris Saint-Germain as they look to replace Edinson Cavani in January.
These reports come from Marca (translated by Sport Witness), who say the Spain international and his representatives have been made aware of PSG’s interest ahead of the winter window.
It is surely highly unlikely that Chelsea would sell their summer signing so soon after bringing him in from Real Madrid, especially as he’s looked in good form for the Blues in his short time with the club so far.
Morata, however, has apparently been identified as a strong contender to spear-head PSG’s new-look attack, with Cavani’s Parc des Princes future in doubt after an on-pitch bust-up with Neymar earlier this season.

Surprise reports from the Daily Mail back in September actually suggested Chelsea could be one of Cavani’s potential suitors, though it remains to be seen if they’d consider him in any kind of swap deal.
Is Morata for Cavani really realistic?
Antonio Conte will surely be pleased with what Morata has brought to the table so far, particularly after his winning goal in last weekend’s crucial victory over rivals Manchester United.
The 24-year-old outshone Romelu Lukaku in that game, despite the Telegraph reporting in the summer that Chelsea tried to hijack his move to Old Trafford late on.
Morata may have raised one or two eyebrows, however, when he admitted in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport that he found it stressful living in London, though it’s unclear how much emphasis he put on his living situation.
Cavani, meanwhile, has 19 goals in all competitions for PSG this season, though that seemingly hasn’t been enough to impress some key figures at PSG.
In a busy day of speculation involving the French giants, PSG have also been linked by Le 10 Sport with Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and by the Sun with a possible move to appoint Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho as their next manager.
