Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff may have let slip that Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka is heading to Liverpool on a free transfer next summer with quotes that have emerged today.

The former Germany striker, who now oversees public relations and other related aspects in his role with the national team, mentioned Goretzka in passing as he discussed German players moving to the Premier League.

‘We feel that England, because of the amount of money you have with TV rights, young talented players like Leroy Sane and Leon Goretzka are moving to England and this is not good for our league but also for the quality of our game,’ Bierhoff told reporters, as quoted in the Metro.

‘We have to pay attention and invest again and again in the education of our coaches.’

While Bierhoff did not name Liverpool specifically, the Liverpool Echo and Mundo Deportivo have both recently named the Reds as one of his main admirers, along with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

However, Bierhoff’s slip of the tongue now looks to have strongly hinted the exciting 22-year-old could well be heading to Anfield, with Liverpool seemingly his strongest suitors in England.
