Arsenal injury news: Wenger fitness boosts, key trio return to training

Arsenal face FC Koln in the Europa League on Thursday evening, and Arsene Wenger has been handed a fitness boost ahead of the game.

The Gunners have a busy schedule now right through to the festive period with their European commitments also to consider, and so Wenger will be delighted to be edging closer to having a full-strength squad at his disposal.

As reported by The Sun, Olivier Giroud, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere all returned to training this week, with the trio all previous absent.

It will give the Arsenal boss something to think about though, as aside from balancing minutes for his youngsters who have featured throughout the group stage of the Europa League, he’ll have to rotate and give minutes to those returning from injury too.

The temptation of course will be to go with the preferred trident of Alexandre Lacazette, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, but with qualification for the knockout phase all-but secured, Wenger will know the importance of resting key individuals and avoiding further setbacks.

Arsenal sit in top spot in Group H with 10 points from four games, as they’ve won three and drawn one with clashes against Koln and BATE Borisov to come.

Importantly though, it’s great timing to have the three players mentioned above back available, as Arsenal will play three Premier League games in the space of almost a week with encounters against Burnley, Huddersfield and Man United to come between November 26 and December 2.
