Arsenal & Chelsea face new rival for £20million Manchester United outcast

Arsenal and Chelsea look set to face competition for the signing of Luke Shaw in the January transfer window, with Newcastle reportedly keen on a loan move for the Manchester United left-back.

The England international has had a miserable time at Old Trafford, getting a major injury in his second season at the club and struggling from that point on to win the trust of manager Jose Mourinho.

Shaw has barely featured this term and has long been linked with a January exit from United, with the Daily Mirror now claiming Newcastle are ready to try a move to revive his career.

This looks a great opportunity for Shaw to ensure he is playing regularly in the top flight, with recent rumours linking him with Arsenal and Chelsea perhaps not an ideal next step for him.

The Telegraph recently claimed both London giants were interested in Shaw, who is valued at around £20million by United, but it’s unclear if he could cement a regular starting place in either of those squads.

Shaw would likely have more chance of playing for Rafael Benitez’s side, which would give him increased hope of winning a World Cup spot with England next summer.
