Manchester City ready to pay star’s £57million release clause to beat Real Madrid to transfer

Manchester City are reportedly ready to spend £57million on triggering Aymeric Laporte’s Athletic Bilbao release clause in order to beat Real Madrid to a transfer.

The 23-year-old centre-back has shone in La Liga down the years, and Don Balon claim City are now looking to beat Real to his signature in a big-money move.

Pep Guardiola isn’t exactly short of quality in his squad right now as his side look unstoppable in their charge towards the Premier League title, but there’s no doubt Laporte could be another useful addition.

The young Frenchman would provide more depth at the back in what has been something of a problem area for City, who have had to cope for long spells this season without John Stones and Vincent Kompany due to injury.

Aymeric Laporte is a transfer target for Manchester City and Real Madrid

Don Balon claim City look ready to pay the required £57m to trigger Laporte’s buy-out clause with Athletic Bilbao, and that could end up being money very well spent.

Madrid won’t be happy, however, as Laporte is also said to be among Florentino Perez’s preferred targets to help his side tighten up at the back.

Real have had a disappointing season and look firmly out of the running to win La Liga, so will need to start rebuilding if they are to get back to their best again next season.
