Exciting news for Arsenal: Journalist hints at one more signing to address key problem area

Arsenal have had quite the January transfer window already, but well-respected BBC journalist David Ornstein has suggested it might not be over yet.

As per BBC Sport, Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined the club in the swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move to Manchester United, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had his move confirmed on Wednesday, as seen in the tweet below.

That fills the void left behind by the Chilean international, and combine Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette together, the Gunners have what looks to be a stunning attacking quartet now at Arsene Wenger’s disposal as a strong argument could be made to suggest that they’re better off.

However, there is still a glaring issue with the current Arsenal squad, and that was clear as recently as Tuesday night in their 3-1 defeat to Swansea City.

The Gunners have now conceded 34 goals in 25 Premier League games so far this season, giving them the worst defensive record out of the top eight sides.

It’s all well and good having the incredible attacking talents mentioned above, but Wenger needs a balance in his side and the current options are clearly not keeping things tight at the back to give them the platform to go out and win games.

As per Ornstein in his tweet below though, they could yet address that but they’ll have to be quick as there’s just hours before the Wednesday night deadline.

According to his tweet, a swoop for either Chelsea’s David Luiz and Roma defender Kostas Manolas is being considered, but that’s not to suggest that a deal could be close for either.

Should Arsenal manage to get the agreements in order and bolster their defence in this window as well though, coupled with the news that Mesut Ozil has signed a new contract, as noted by BBC Sport, it will certainly be a memorable transfer window for the Gunners faithful.
