A lot of people are calling for Gareth Southgate to save the country in more ways than one as they now want the England manager to sort out the mess the British government finds itself in.
As reported by BBC News, Brexit secretary David Davis has resigned from his position due to disagreeing with the strategy put forward by prime minister Theresa May – just eight months before Britain is scheduled to leave the European Union.
Southgate is certainly Mr Popular right now after a terrific World Cup campaign with England, leading the national side with the kind of class and dignity so many of our politicians lack.
The former Middlesbrough defender will no doubt be focused on guiding the Three Lions through their World Cup semi-final clash with Croatia this week, with the country in a good position to reach its first final in this tournament since winning the competition all the way back in 1966.
Few have come close to achieving what Southgate has with England, so could he also be the miracle worker needed to step in and negotiate Brexit? This lot certainly think so following the resignation of Davis…

Brexit is a farce it will benefit only a few while the whole country will suffer ; our only hope is that Sir Gareth Southgate brings it home next Sunday then pops into parliament on Monday morning and sorts this mess out.

I think the most likely outcome of all this is…

Brexit is going well. General Election? Southgate has my vote.

Sack the entire cabinet and put Gareth Southgate in charge of #Brexit. Absolutely no idea of his politics but he at least seems to a) know something about strategy and team management and b)understand that patriotism doesn’t get you anywhere if you’ve got no plan and no talent.

Brexit Secretary David Davis resigns and the Tory government is in disarray. May’s days may be numbered. There’s only one solution:
Southgate for PM!
