Man United are willing to fork out £61M (€70M) in order to sign Bayern Munich and Spain midfielder Thiago Alcantara, a player who has also attracted the interest of Barcelona.
This is according to Don Balon, who state that the Blaugrana are set to make their move for the Spaniard in the not-too-distant future, and that the Spanish giants are only willing to offer as much as £53M (€60M) for the player.
The news outlet also state that Jose Mourinho is a big fan of the former Barca star, and that the club are willing to pay the aforementioned fee to bring the player to Old Trafford.
One thing that was clear in Man United’s side last season was that the club didn’t have a player in their ranks who was able to control the game at their own will, something Thiago has shown he can do with ease.
The Bayern star has been a key member of his side these past few seasons, helping the German giants outshine everyone time and time again in the Bundesliga.
Thiago’s calmness on the ball and ability to pick out teammates from anywhere on the pitch at will has seen him cement him place in Bayern Munich’s starting line-up.
If Man United do end up lodging a bid of £61M for Thiago, we could see them beat Barcelona to the signing of the star should Bayern accept the offer.
