Offer made and Jose Mourinho ready to do business as Manchester United defender looks set for Serie A

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho looks set to sanction the departure of a player who made 17 first-team appearances last season.

According to The Mirror, Italian defender Matteo Darmian has been the subject of a loan offer from Inter Milan and United are prepared to let him leave as he is not in Mourinho’s plans for 2018-19 campaign.

But 28-year-old Darmian may not necessarily end up at Inter because Juventus are also interested, so say The Mirror, who add that United would like to sell him for around £17m rather than loan him out.

Darmian has been a United player for three years since he was signed from Torino in 2015.

He has started 44 Premier League games for the Red Devils and won three trophies – the 2016 FA Cup, plus the Carabao Cup and Europa League in 2017.

Darmian could be the first notable name to be sold by United this summer, but many lesser-known players have already left Old Trafford including Sam Johnstone, Joe Riley, Indy Boonen and Ilias Moutha-Sebtaou.

It would appear that Matteo Darmian is no longer wanted at Manchester United
