Chelsea star in Spain as final decision on Real Madrid transfer imminent

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is reportedly on holiday in Spain and stopped by Madrid on his way to Tenerife after his participation in the World Cup with Belgium.

The 26-year-old formed part of the side that reached the semi-finals of the competition and finished in third place thanks to a win over England in the playoff.

It now looks as though Courtois is nearing a move to Real Madrid as he heads into the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and Onda Cero report that he’s already in Spain as a final decision looks increasingly close, perhaps just days away.

This follows plenty of speculation over the Belgian shot-stopper’s future for a number of months, and it has been suggested that the Blues are preparing for his departure.

It has been claimed that new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri would be prepared to sanction the sale of Courtois as he’d like to bring in Roma ‘keeper Alisson as his replacement, according to Sky Sport Italia, as translated by the Metro.

Still, it’s far from ideal that CFC seem set to lose one of their best and most experienced players, who has won two titles with the club as well as the FA Cup and League Cup in just four seasons as their number one.

Chelsea are also not guaranteed to get their man to replace him, with Gianluca Di Marzio reporting that Liverpool are ahead of CFC in the running to sign Alisson.
