Manchester City lead chase for £89million transfer after being beaten by Chelsea to Jorginho

Manchester City are reportedly leading the chase to seal the transfer of Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic for £89million.

Sport Mediaset describe the Premier League champions as being in pole position for the Bosnian playmaker, who could be an ideal signing for Pep Guardiola’s side in midfield.

A skilful, intelligent ball-playing midfielder, Pjanic seems a perfect fit for the way this City side play, and the report suggests it is the Sky Blues who are most willing to pay Juve’s asking price for him.

Guardiola could do with adding one new central midfield player to his side this summer, and notably missed out on landing Jorginho from Napoli as he instead moved to Chelsea, according to BBC Sport.

Pjanic has also been linked with Chelsea as the Daily Mail claim Juventus are possibly under some pressure to offload players after spending big on Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

However, it remains to be seen if CFC will go in for another signing in that position, with the Mail also noting they’ve been trying to sign his Juve team-mates Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani anyway.
