One of the best strikers in the world for many years, Lewandowski could give United another genuine world class option up front as they await Romelu Lukaku’s late return to the squad after making it to the semi-finals of the World Cup with Belgium.

And, as reported by the Daily Express, it looks like Bayern could be struggling to keep Lewandowski as United show an interest, with Anthony Martial possibly a player in line to make a move in the opposite direction.

The report states Jose Mourinho is prepared to let the France international go to a foreign club if they receive an offer of £60million for him, ruling out the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham, also mentioned as suitors.

If Martial and Lewandowski were to swap places it could be ideal for both clubs to solve their respective issues up front.

The Daily Star recently suggested the 29-year-old would command a fee of around £100million.
