Niko Kovac has requested that Bayern Munich make a move to bring Barcelona and Croatia superstar Ivan Rakitic to the Allianz Arena this summer.
This is according to Don Balon, who note that Rakitic has appeared on Bayern’s radar following his more-than-impressive World Cup campaign with Croatia in Russia this summer.
The report also notes that the midfielder has no plans to depart the Camp Nou this summer, news that will music to Barca fans’ ears.
Rakitic would be a quality signing for Bayern despite him being 30 years old, as the player has proven these last few years to be one of the most consistent midfielders on the planet.
Rakitic was a key player for Barca last season, with performances for the Blaugrana seeing some label him as one of the club’s most important players.
The Barca star also impressed at the World Cup this year, with his partnership with Luka Modric in the middle of the park proving to be a big part in Croatia’s run to the final, where they eventually lost 4-2 to France.
Losing Rakitic would be a big blow for Barcelona, and it would almost certainly force the Spanish giants to dip back into the transfer market for another midfielder this summer.
