Eden Hazard’s father reveals why Chelsea star’s summer Real Madrid transfer failed to materialise

Eden Hazard’s father has revealed that his son could very well had joined Real Madrid this summer should Zinedine Zidane not have left his position as manager.

This is according to the Sun, who report that, as re-reported and translated from Hiet Niewuwsblad, Hazard’s father, Thierry, spoke about Hazard’s rumoured Madrid move, stating “It could have been a different story if Zidane had continued as Real Madrid coach”.

These words from Hazard’s father certainly imply that the Frenchman’s departure from Los Blancos is why the Belgian’s move failed to materialise.

Hazard was linked with a move to Real over the summer, with Spanish outlet Don Balon noting fairly recently that Los Blancos still have the Belgian down as a target.

Hazard’s father stated that Zidane’s departure from Real is why the Belgian didn’t seal a move

Hazard would’ve been the perfect signing for Real this summer, as the Belgian international would’ve been more than capable of filling the void left by the Cristiano Ronaldo following his move to Juventus.

Although seeing Zidane leave Real may have looked like a good move for both parties at the time, however following this news, fans of the club will surely view it as a mistake.

Hazard’s arrival would’ve filled Los Blancos fans with confidence going into this season, knowing they had a new ‘Galactico’ for their side to look to in times of need.

However, it seems like Real fans are going to have to wait awhile if they are going to see the club sign Hazard especially seeing as the transfer window slams shut for all clubs next week.
