Manchester United star drops biggest clue yet over his future amid Jose Mourinho transfer row

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial looks to have dropped a major clue over his future ahead of the final few days of the European transfer window.

According to the Daily Mirror, the France international has taken the option of renting a house for the next 12 months in Cheshire.

This suggests Martial knows he won’t be going anywhere – at least for this season, despite claims elsewhere that Red Devils manager Jose Mourinho would like to let the player go.

The Telegraph suggest Martial himself is happy to stay at Old Trafford, having been encouraged by the club’s desire to keep him despite the wishes of the manager.

It certainly looks a big risk letting the 22-year-old move on at this stage, with his best years surely ahead of him after showing some early promise at United.

Martial first broke onto the scene under Louis van Gaal in the 2015/16 season, but has since struggled to get as much playing time under Mourinho.

Still, the Portuguese may have given himself less negotiating room due to his own poor record of letting top young players go before they went on to blossom elsewhere.

This happened at Chelsea, when Mourinho failed to recognise the potential of Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah, both of whom are now star players at Manchester City and Liverpool, respectively.

Interestingly, the 55-year-old also let Romelu Lukaku leave Chelsea at the time, before later signing him for big money at United.

Martial seems to have similar potential and fans will be pleased to see it looks like he’s sticking around for the time being.
