Some Manchester City fans have called for summer signing Riyad Mahrez to be dropped from the team following a string of unflattering performances for the champions.

Manchester City were unable to go into the half time break with a lead, despite dominating possession during the first half.

Algerian Mahrez joined title-holders Manchester City from Leicester this summer for a fee reported to be £60m by BBC Sport.

So far Mahrez has failed to impress for the Citizens since his big-money move this summer, performances by the 27-year-old are a far cry from what fans are used to from the winger.

Mahrez famously won the PFA Player of The Year award for the 2015-16 Premier League campaign where the attacker won plaudits from across the world.

The Le Havre academy graduate will be hoping to quickly replicate his 2015-16 form where the Algerian scored 17 goals and added 11 assists.

Fans calls were finally answered when Pep Guardiola substituted the summer signing for ?lkay Gündo?an in the 76th minute. Mahrez’s performance today was less than impressive to say the least and a turn in form is needed very soon.

Mahrez will be hoping to turn his form around very quickly with stars such as Leroy Sane quite literally waiting in the wings should the attacker continue to underperform.
