Barcelona have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Colombia and Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez, a player who’s arrival would solve Barca’s issues in the centre of defence.
According to Don Balon, Sanchez’s agent has offered the player to Barcelona and their La Liga title rivals Atletico Madrid, with it also being stated that Real Madrid look set to be included in the race for the player if neither side make a move for the defender.
This offer is definitely one that Barcelona should take up, as Sanchez has already proved during his short time with Spurs that he has what it takes to be one of the best defenders in the world one day.
The Colombian international’s physical prowess and ability on the ball is clear for all to see, and his composure when in possession means he would be a perfect fit for the Blaugrana.
Sanchez’s arrival at Barcelona, should it actually happen, would see the club solve their short-term defensive dilemma that has been caused by the injury troubles surrounding Samuel Umtiti.
The French international has struggled dearly to maintain his fitness and stay clear of injury the past few seasons, something that has caused a number of problems at the back for the Blaugrana.
Signing Sanchez would almost immediately get rid of these problems, and once Umtiti regains his fitness and returns from injury, the two could form one of the best centre back partnerships in Europe for the Spanish giants.
It just remains to be seen whether the club take up this offer and snag a deal to bring Sanchez from north London to the Nou Camp…
