Based on how their season is going thus far, it’s fair to say that Real Madrid miss Cristiano Ronaldo and have failed to sufficiently fill the void he has left behind.
Los Blancos are 10 points adrift of rivals Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table, while they haven’t entirely convinced in Europe despite getting through the group stage of the Champions League.
With no Ronaldo leading their charge, there has been an obvious drop off as expected given the overall influence and goals that he brought to the team.
However, it appears as though his presence is also being missed off the pitch too, as Marcelo’s wife, Clarice Alves, has opened up and discussed his departure publicly and it’s impact away from football.
“We were very disappointed, we spent a lot of time together, I know his mother well and Georgina is wonderful, and then my son is very close to Junior. Yes, his farewell left us a great emptiness,” she is quoted as saying by Sportmediaset.
While that genuinely seems just an innocent insight into how their family misses another, it comes amid ongoing speculation over Marcelo’s future and the possibility of a reunion with Ronaldo in Turin this summer.
That is specifically noted in this report, as it’s suggested that Juventus will make a move at the end of the season to reunite the pair, and it’s suggested that Alves would certainly be in favour of it.
This isn’t the first time that the Brazilian stalwart has been linked with a move to the reigning Italian champions, with Calciomercato reporting last year that he has even informed Real Madrid of his desire to move.
However, any such transfer could be complicated by the presence of Alex Sandro at Juve, as his compatriot surely wouldn’t join knowing that he wasn’t guaranteed to be a starter in the line-up.
