Father of Juventus transfer target talks up chances of Cristiano Ronaldo reunion

James Rodriguez’s father has seemingly opened the door for his son to secure a reunion with Cristiano Ronaldo at Juventus.

The 27-year-old will see his loan spell with Bayern Munich end this summer, at which point he is expected to return to Real Madrid, unless an option to buy clause is exercised.

Given the Colombian international has been limited to just 14 appearances so far this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists in his time on the pitch, it doesn’t appear too likely that he will remain with the Bundesliga giants beyond this season, albeit his absence can largely be attributed to injuries.

Nevertheless, his father, Wilson Rodriguez, has now talked up the possibility of his son moving to Juventus this summer, which would of course set up a reunion with his former Madrid teammate Ronaldo.

“He has received many offers,” he told Bild, as quoted by Calciomercato. “Juventus? He’s good friends with Cristiano Ronaldo. The way I see Italian football, going to Juventus would be a good decision.”

It’s added in the Calciomercato report that the Turin giants are considering a summer swoop for the playmaker, with talks already held between sporting director Fabio Paratici and his agent Jorge Mendes.

With that in mind, coupled with the Ronaldo factor, it seems as though joining the reigning Serie A champions could be a serious option on the table this summer.

Juventus will have a decision to make though, as coach Massimiliano Allegri already has the likes of Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa, Federico Bernardeschi, Mario Mandzukic and Juan Cuadrado at his disposal in the final third.

Adding Rodriguez to that group would seemingly force one to leave as that is a significant amount of competition for places regardless of whether or not Juventus are competing on multiple fronts.
