£131m duo to Man Utd, £70m forward to Liverpool: Predicting how the top 16 transfer sagas of the summer will pan out

Christian Eriksen

He’s got just a year left on his contract, he’s hinted strongly at wanting a move away (via Ekstra Bladet) and he’s a player capable of representing any top team in Europe.

In short, we’re pretty confident Christian Eriksen will be on his way out of Tottenham this summer, with Real Madrid perhaps the most likely destination if AS is to be believed, with club president Florentino Perez favouring the Dane over Paul Pogba.

Eriksen is arguably the better player and would also surely be cheaper, so get ready for him to follow Eden Hazard to the Bernabeu as part of this continued revamp in attack.

Christian Eriksen could finally leave Tottenham

James Maddison

An ideal replacement for Eriksen, we reckon James Maddison could leave Leicester City for Spurs this summer.

The Mirror have linked the 22-year-old with the north London side, while the Daily Record claim he’s unconvinced by a potential move to Manchester United as an alternative.

Maddison could play Champions League football with this year’s beaten finalists if he moves to Tottenham, and he’d surely get that immediate guaranteed key role in the side as Eriksen surely leaves. Win-win.

Nicolas Pepe

Mohamed Bouhafsi is a very reliable transfer source and he claims Liverpool are well-placed to win the race for Nicolas Pepe.

The Lille winger is surely going to be snapped up by someone this summer, and we think a move to Anfield makes sense as the newly-crowned European champions surely have at least one marquee signing up their sleeves this summer.

Pepe could be crucial to providing Liverpool with more options behind their first choice front three, with Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino occasionally going off the boil in 2018/19.

While the Reds have been one of the most fearsome attacks in the world for some time now, Jurgen Klopp could do with making sure they don’t become predictable, so Pepe makes sense as an ideal signing, with the Mirror previously stating he’d likely cost around £70m.

Adrien Rabiot

It’s long been widely known that Adrien Rabiot is a Liverpool fan, and the Daily Mail have recently reported that the free agent would rather move to Anfield than to Old Trafford.

There’s yet to be concrete reports of interest from LFC, but it’s also unclear how much movement there’s been with any other of his numerous rumoured options.

A free transfer to give Jurgen Klopp something a bit different in midfield? It sounds very Liverpool, so we’re going to bet that this one could end up being one of those out-of-nowhere deals, quite like Fabinho when he joined the Reds last summer.

Thomas Meunier

Linked repeatedly with Arsenal, it seems highly likely that this move will eventually happen.

Tuttomercatoweb are the latest to claim the Gunners have made a bid for the Belgium international, who could do with more first-team football after falling down the pecking order at PSG.

Meunier should get more playing time at the Emirates Stadium, where Unai Emery needs to replace the departing Stephan Lichtsteiner, while Hector Bellerin has had his problems with injury and Ainsley Maitland-Niles has probably not been quite good enough filling in in that position.
