Steven Gerrard emerges as shock managerial candidate on list of struggling Champions League giants

Posted by

Former Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has reportedly been added to a list of potential candidates to replace the struggling Christophe Galtier as Paris Saint-Germain manager.

Gerrard is a Liverpool and England legend from his playing days, but despite his big-name status, he’s not quite got going in his managerial career just yet.

The 42-year-old enjoyed success in a spell at Rangers, but performed a lot worse in his most recent job at Villa, so it’s certainly a surprise to see the Scottish Daily Express linking him with someone like PSG.

This could mean we’ll soon see Gerrard taking charge of superstars like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar if Galtier does end up getting the sack after some indifferent form recently.

Gerrard may well thrive in that environment, but it’s also a big gamble for the Ligue 1 giants, who surely need someone with more experience of handing big egos and huge expectations…

Gerrard has been tipped as a potential future Liverpool manager, so a role like this would certainly do him the world of good if he does want to return to Anfield one day.

  1. What a load of garbage… never in a million years. All managers, far better and more experienced than Stevie G went to PSG and died on the hill of Neymar, Messi, Mbappe & co selfish, spoiled, over paid circus.
    Absolutely zero chance.
