Kevin De Bruyne boasts record-breaking Champions League stat following goal vs Real Madrid

Kevin De Bruyne’s goal against Real Madrid last night means that the midfielder has the best ratio of goals from outside the box ratio than any other player to grace the Champions League.

De Bruyne scored the equaliser in City’s 1-1 draw with Los Blancos in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

The Belgian has now scored seven of his 14 goals in that competition for Pep Guardiola’s side from outside of the penalty box, which is 50% of his total tally.

No player in the history of the competition has ever had a better ratio than the Man City midfielder.

His second-half strike was certainly an important one as it means the scores are level going into the return leg which will be held at the Etihad.

You could argue it gives the Premier League side a slight edge over Real Madrid, as they have the home advantage when they play on May 17th.

Year in and year out the 31-year-old continues to dazzle spectators in the Premier League and across Europe. That goal is just one example of why the midfielder is just a different class to most.
