Transfer boost for Liverpool & Arsenal following key development at Chelsea

Liverpool and Arsenal may reportedly have been handed a transfer boost with the news that Mason Mount is expected to be one of the first wave of players to leave Chelsea this summer.

That’s according to a report from Football Insider, who state that Mauricio Pochettino looks ready to make a number of changes to this struggling Chelsea squad, with Mount just one of several big names who could be allowed to leave.

The report notes that the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal have been on alert for Mount as he nears the final year of his contract, and it is perhaps now the case that even the arrival of Pochettino won’t be enough to keep the 24-year-old at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea fans will no doubt be disappointed, with Mount having a fine career up until this difficult season, and initially looking like a homegrown talent who could go on to become a club legend.

Mason Mount to Liverpool or Arsenal?

Liverpool would undoubtedly do well to add Mount to their list of options in midfield this summer, while Arsenal could also benefit from freshening up in that position due to some ageing players in that area of their squad.

The Times have linked Arsenal with Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo, but Mount could be another fine option in a more advanced role, perhaps as a replacement for Granit Xhaka, who has been linked with Bayer Leverkusen by Kicker and others.
