The fallout of Liverpool’s controversial defeat to Tottenham on Saturday has continued into Tuesday as the Merseyside club have received some key information from the PGMOL.
The Reds are outraged over a decision to rule out a perfectly good goal scored by Luis Diaz to make it 1-0 at the time and on Sunday penned a strongly worded statement in which Liverpool argued that sporting integrity had been “undermined” and said they would “explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution”.
It has now been reported by The Athletic, that the referees’ governing body PGMOL have sent Liverpool the audio of the exchanges from Saturday’s game between referee Simon Hooper and those in the VAR room at Stockley Park, which the Reds will now review.
It is uncertain what type of outcome Liverpool are hoping for regarding this incident in terms of impacting their team but the report says the club just want things to be better for everyone going forward.
The error was a massive one and has already affected people’s feelings towards the people operating VAR but only time will tell if things will improve regarding the technology.

It is now a matter of proven fact that it was a goal. This is now not a matter of opinion but hard fact and therefore the score must be adjusted to a 2:2 draw as the actual score line. Judgements are made retrospectively in athletics for example if footage later shows an athlete should be disqualified. Other decisions come down to a level of opinion but not that goal. It maybe best in terms of sporting integrity to give Spurs the option of either declaring a draw or opting for a rematch
The VAR and the refe the have to communicate and have good decisions to avoid such agreements.
Truly speaking Diaz did score and the second card Liverpool received was not supposed to be a card .
Let’s just say the much ended 2:2 or else rematch.
The game needs to become null and void. A replay is the only fair outcome.
Maybe it’s time to change the rules about offside.
How about cancelling the offside rule and making it that you can score from any position.
There would be less 0-0 scores.
