Arsenal have reportedly begun negotiating a new deal for Mikel Arteta.

That’s according to a recent report from Football Transfers, who claim the Gunners are keen to tie the Spaniard down on fresh terms, despite only agreeing to his current deal less than two years ago.

The 41-year-old is enjoying a wonderful spell in the Emirates’ dugout. Although the Gunners finished second to eventual treble winners Manchester City last season, the progress the Spaniard has overseen is undeniable.

And with the North Londoners continuing this season as they finished last, including competently reaching the Champions League’s knockout phase, Arteta is in line for a lucrative new deal which would see him earn significantly more than the £9.5 million salary he is currently on.

Since taking charge of the Gunners, Arteta, who upgraded from Manchester City’s assistant manager in 2019, has averaged just under 2.00 points per game with his current win percentage sitting pretty at nearly 60 per cent.

And in line with such impressive numbers, there is hope from Arsenal that an agreement can be reached in time for the start of the 2024-25 season.

  1. He may well be in talks with Arsenal but did he tell you what earns because you are mates or are you taking a Sky sports guess at the matter? What nonsense!
Every time someone is negotiating a contract the ‘press’ (Most of whom know nothing) seem to know how much it is worth. What crap.
