The Manchester United boss has revealed why the club didn’t bring in a new striker during the January window.
After a disappointing start to the season, the Red Devils seemed to have finally picked up form winning four of their last five Premier League games.
A huge reason for this has been the performances of Rasmus Hojlund who seems to have finally found his feet in Manchester scoring eight goals in his last eight games.
Unfortunately for the Old Trafford faithful, the Danish striker has picked up an injury which ruled him out of the Fulham defeat on Saturday.
Although he is only expected to be missing for a few weeks, Ten Hag was asked why he didn’t bring in any forward reinforcements during the winter window.
“First of all, striker options are most difficult to fill…especially on our level.” He said via Four Four Two.
“Strikers are not cheap. We thought we had options. When [Martial’s injury happened], I wanted to bring in a striker in the winter, but it was not possible. And, similar, was the problems we already had with FFP in the summer.”
Scoring goals has been one of the side’s biggest weaknesses this campaign and with a trip to the Etihad waiting just around the corner, United will badly miss Hojlund.
