‘I think he deserves’ – Pundit claims Arsenal star would be perfect for Chelsea

With uncertainty surrounding Aaron Ramsdale’s future at Arsenal into the summer, goalkeeping coach Dave Watson has claimed that the player would be a perfect fit for Chelsea.

Aaron Ramsdale may have played his last game for Arsenal at this point. Since David Raya was signed in the summer, Ramsdale has been out of Mikel Arteta’s lineup for the most of the season.

Raya was not allowed to play against his parent club, therefore Ramsdale’s only two Premier League games since September were against Brentford.

Ramsdale’s happiness staying at Arsenal for the upcoming season is difficult to comprehend. However, a lot will undoubtedly rely on the opportunity presented to the 25-year-old this summer.

Ramsdale would be perfect for Chelsea

Dave Watson said on The Football Fill-In that Chelsea need to be aware of his circumstances.

“He deserves to be playing in the Premier League. But the ability that he’s got, he’s not going to want to sign for a lower or mid-table team, he’s going to want to be at the bigger teams. Where is the potential to have an opening? Could Chelsea look at him in terms of Sanchez or Petrovic at the minute? Would they be looking to maybe change? And would he fancy that kind of thing? That’s the kind of club that I think he deserves to be signing for,” he said.

Arsenal want Ramsdale to stay

Mikel Arteta wants Ramsdale to stay at the club as it’s going to be difficult to find another back-up goalkeeper as good as him.

But Ramsdale can’t stand by and watch while his progress stops. One may argue that he is superior to Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez. And he will be happy to go back into playing regularly again.

Sitting on the bench for Arsenal has also hampered Ramsdale’s chances of going to the Euro as part of Gareth Southgate’s England team.

  1. You are right, Chelsea should be breaking the bank to get Ramsdale, before he decides to change his mind and stay at Arsenal. In this day and age, £50 million is a snip for a “young” international England goalkeeper.

He is a brilliant shot stopper, but sometimes over confident in his distribution, which can easily be rectified by practice on the training field and more game time to iron out the rustiness.

However a natural brilliant shot stopper who will increase Chelsea’s chances of moving into a top 4 position next year.
