Tottenham Hotspur were brutally humbled by Fulham on Saturday evening as the Cottagers smashed three past their London rivals. Incidentally, they became the first team to keep a clean sheet against Spurs since Ange Postecoglou became the manager.

Rewind back to last week, Spurs were licking their lips after annihilating Aston Villa in the race for the top four. But this shocking defeat to the hands of Fulham will feel like two steps back for Tottenham after picking up a massive three points last week.

Tottenham squandered an opportunity to break into the top four, with Timo Werner’s stunning miss encapsulating a dismal evening. Spurs had the chance to overtake fourth-placed Aston Villa on Saturday but endured a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Craven Cottage, courtesy of Rodrigo Muniz’s brace and Sasa Lukic’s goal.

The terrible miss from two-yards out summed up the miserable evening for the visitors.

Spurs remain two points behind fourth-placed Villa, but they still have a six-point cushion to Manchester United in sixth.

The Cottagers currently occupy the 12th position in the table, just one point behind their west London rivals, Chelsea, who are in 11th place. However, Chelsea have two games in hand over Fulham.
