Arsenal, Liverpool & Man United among clubs showing transfer interest in Champions League winner

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly among the clubs showing an interest in the potential transfer of Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy ahead of this summer.

The experienced France international, who has won the Champions League and two La Liga titles during his time at the Bernabeu, looks like he may no longer be the automatic first choice in Carlo Ancelotti’s side, and that’s cast his future into some doubt.

According to L’Equipe, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd are among those looking at Mendy’s situation ahead of this summer, and it would certainly be intriguing to see the 28-year-old in the Premier League in the near future.

Even if Mendy has been a reliable performer for Los Blancos in recent years, it perhaps makes sense that they’re now looking at younger players to play his role.

Eduardo Camavinga has played at left-back a lot this season, while Real are also continuing to be linked with a potential move for Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.

Mendy transfer: What impact could he have at Arsenal, Man Utd or Liverpool?

Arsenal may well be having doubts about Oleksandr Zinchenko at the moment after a dip in form this season, so Mendy could well be an upgrade.

The Frenchman could also be ideal to give United an upgrade on inconsistent and injury prone duo Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia, though it remains to be seen if he’d go to Old Trafford if they weren’t able to offer Champions League football next season.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have Andrew Robertson as their first choice left-back, and Kostas Tsimikas as a very capable backup, so it remains to be seen if Mendy really makes sense as a priority for the Reds.

Mendy could be missed by Real, though if they do manage to sign Davies that would surely make up for the departure of this big name.
