Paul Scholes compares Manchester United star to Gattuso after sensational performance

The former Manchester United midfielder has compared Sofyan Amrabat to an Italian legend after Saturday’s FA Cup final.

The Red Devils surprised everybody with their performance against bitter rivals Manchester City at Wembley, winning 2-1 on the day.

Erik ten Hag’s men were able to easily get in behind the Premier League champion’s defence with the pace of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho utilised by long balls over the top.

The deadlock was finally broken on the half-hour mark after a mix-up between Josko Gvardiol and Stefan Ortega allowed Garnacho to tap the ball into the empty net, giving the Red Devils a deserved 1-0 lead.

That advantage was then doubled minutes later after a quick counter-attacking move was finished off by a composed finish from Kobbie Mainoo into the bottom corner.

Pep Guardiola’s side were able to grab a consolation goal late on in the game courtesy of Jeremy Doku but couldn’t complete the comeback as their double ambitions were halted.

Posting on social media after the game, Paul Scholes highlighted the performance of Amrabat by posting a picture of the midfielder lifting the FA Cup with the caption ‘“Like a prime Gattusso today.”

The Morrocan international’s season-long loan deal in England is coming to an end with a decision on a permanent move to Old Trafford still uncertain.
