The Spaniard made crucial saves for the Gunners in crucial moments. The most iconic save coming against Mateus Fernandes in a one on one situation, a save that may win the title for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Spanish shot-stopper produced a masterclass in clutch goalkeeping, securing a vital three points that inches Arsenal ever closer to lifting the league title.

Arsenal manager praises goalkeeper David Raya

Mikel Arteta acknowledged the performance of Raya and praised him for his quality.

The 30-year-old made three defining saves, beginning with an acrobatic, full-stretch stop to deny Taty Castellanos just before the interval.

Raya saved his absolute best for the second half, producing a miraculous, point-blank block to thwart Fernandes when the midfielder looked destined to equalise.

He told Arsenal.com: “When you talk about magic moments, this is certainly one of the most needed moments as well to pull off with that save. He was incredible.”

The match concluded in chaotic fashion when West Ham had a stoppage-time equaliser correctly ruled out by VAR following a clear-cut foul on Raya.

Raya has been in stunning form for the Gunners

Raya registered five crucial recoveries and secured his 18th clean sheet of the campaign.

In doing so, he officially locked down his third consecutive Premier League Golden Glove award, a remarkable testament to his sustained individual excellence.

With an extended break before hosting Burnley on May 18, followed by a final-day trip to Crystal Palace, Arsenal’s objective is crystal clear, two more wins guarantee the title.

Matches like this prove that while attackers win games, world-class goalkeepers secure championships.

Arteta signed Raya to replace Aaron Ramsdale and at that time, the decision received a lot of criticism but the Spanish manager has been proved right by the goalkeeper.

  1. For the daily express and other a wipe media. They all agree that it was a clear foul on Raya by the number 19. Not just a foul, but the ball that was going in the direction of Rayas hands would have easily been caught by Raya had his arms not been held down by the number 19.
The excuse of these so called media outlets are saying what about other times when the goal is allowed following other occasions when the goal keeper was fouled.
There has never been an incident the same as when Rayas arms were held down when a goal keeper was about to catch the ball. Never has their been an exact copy of that incident, so why are medias pretending that this is a common thing, when it has never happened before in that way?
Also why are the media blindly mentioning Rice grabbing a west ham player in the same incident when Rice and that player is not in the projectory of the in swinging ball. One has nothing to do with the other. The fact is that you are not allowed to foul the goalkeeper especially when he could have easily caught the ball had his arms not been held down.
This is the first time a goalkeepers arms have been held down when he is about to catch the ball. So why are medias a wipes saying this happens all the time. Could they be just lying?
I think they are, as this was the first time this exact incident has happened and should not be judged controversial in any way, as no body is arguing that it wasn’t a clear foul on David Raya. So the decision was correct 100% with no room for any doubt what so ever. Just Wishful thinking by westham and ManCity and Arsenal haters. Accept the correct decision and move on.
