Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are in talks to sign Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli and are prepared to pay a total package close to £50 million.
Transfer insider Ben Jacobs took to social media platform X to reveal that negotiation channels have opened between Al-Hilal and Arsenal for the 25-year-old Brazilian international.

According to Jacobs, the Saudi giants are actively pursuing a move for Martinelli and are ready to put forth an offer in the region of £50 million.
Having initially received inquiries from Saudi Arabia during last summer’s transfer window, Martinelli is now understood to be far more open to making the switch to the Middle East.
With direct dialogue progressing between all parties, Arsenal are willing to sanction a permanent departure if an acceptable financial package is finalized before the transfer deadline.

The potential transfer follows a period of increasing friction regarding Martinelli’s status at North London.
Mikel Arteta has made it clear that the Brazilian wide man is no longer a core part of his plans for the 2026/27 campaign, notably leaving him out of the matchday squads for both the Community Shield victory and Arsenal’s opening Premier League fixture against Coventry City.
Jacobs update indicates that Martinelli has already been explicitly informed by the club hierarchy that they intend to move him on to free up squad space and wage funds for further attacking acquisitions.

Needs to be. When you are dealing with millions of fans and dealing with millions in money decisions have to be harsh and effective.
£1b spent was what it took to take Arseanl from the top 4 hopefuls to title winners. Any other team also knows it takes that amount to challenge. Look at Spurs spent over £300m in just this transfer window and haven’t actually improved their squad significantly.
I get everyone wants clubs to find these cheap rough diamonds and then go on and win however it is rarely the case. You get the odd youth player that actually makes the grade and then you get a very rare cheaper player that can handle the premier, Tzolis at £35m could well be in this camp.

Gabi unfortunately doesn’t offer what is needed. Arteta has to be direct and to the point. It took 22 years to win the league and look what he needed to do, previous managers spent millions on players that were not good enough.
Gabi sale makes complete sense financially for the club and for the player as it will allow him to reestablish.
Let’s not forget every premier league team knows what he is going to do on the left wing and it proved just how ineffective he was. Champions league slightly different as you have time to run beyond.

Good Euro form and good counter attacker against a high back line defence.
But he is on a remaining one year contract wind down and refuses to sign an extension. Which is why he is dropped and transfer listed by Arteta.
The reason why Martinelli has been dropped is because he is refusing to sign a new extension on his remaining one year contract as he wants to leave next year for free.
Arteta will not loose a £60m to £70m player for free, and has warned Martinelli, you are either committed to this club or not by extending your contract.
So Arteta has no option but to transfer list him, as he is not committed with Arsenal and prefers to run down his remaining one year contract.
You can’t blame Arteta for dropping him under those circumstances. IMO.
Selling Martinelli even for 60M in today’s market is a total abuse to Arsenal. The least price should be 80M. Martinelli is way better than Savinho (85M). The problem with him is Arteta not using him centrally where he has persistently demonstrated he can perform better.
Why should Arsenal try to buy Alvarez when he doesn’t want us? Osimhen is ideal.
