So much happens at Manchester United every year that it’s hard to keep track sometimes.
Remember the chaotic Erik Ten Hag years? Those were the ones before the chaotic Ruben Amorim years. One person who does remember them is Fred, who was a central midfielder for United at the time. His memories of the team at that time reveal the chaos behind the scenes as the Dutch manager’s reign descended into chaos.
“[Ten Hag] argued with everyone. He argued with me, with Cristiano, with Casemiro, with Rashford,” Fred said in quotes picked up by the Daily Mail.
“He wouldn’t put me in to play, sometimes it got stressful… He wanted the team to run, but Cristiano (was already) older. He took Cristiano out [of the starting lineup], and then there was a falling out.”
“With the group, he was a piece of crap.”
Fred has some praise for Ten Hag

But Fred did have some praise for his former manager – it wasn’t all bad at that time.
“Ten Hag was a clique-ridden coach,’ he continued. “But, tactically, he was one of the best I’ve ever worked with.
Manchester United ended up winning the league cup in Fred’s final game, beating Manchester City against all expectations. That extended the Ten Hag era a few extra months – but we all know how things ended up after that.
Fred ended up playing for Fenerbahce for three years before eventually moving back to Brazil this summer.
