€80m Liverpool ace wants to join Barcelona this summer

Both Liverpool and Barcelona are two clubs that will be in transition this coming summer.

The Reds will be expected to announce the arrival of Arne Slot as their new manager once Jurgen Klopp officially departs the club after the last game of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

That’s likely to mean a period of change or upheaval at the club and, just as when Klopp himself arrived, it will take time for Slot’s ideas to come to fruition.

From Barcelona’s point of view, the Catalans still appear to be struggling to stay on the right side of Financial Fair Play.

Liverpool’s Luis Diaz wants Barcelona switch

A significant debt that was left behind by the last regime has continued to ensure difficulties for the club in the transfer market.

Players that would normally be within reach financially are not, and the powers that be are forever getting creative in terms of being able to bring others in.

Loans, free transfers and the like appear to be the norm for the club at present, and for such a storied institution, that’s incredibly embarrassing.

The cachet of wearing the blaugrana still remains, however, and according to Fichajes, Liverpool’s 27-year-old Colombian, Luis Diaz, has expressed a preference to join the club.

The stumbling block of course is a reported €80m transfer fee. That would likely be well out of reach for the Catalan outfit this summer.

It’s easy to understand why Barca themselves might be interested in acquiring Diaz too.

The left side of attack has been one area where Xavi’s players have consistently let him down, and given that’s where Diaz appears to do his best work, there’s an obvious fit.

With interest on both sides, there are bound to be exploratory talks to be had, even if it’s just to understand the full conditions of any deal.

As we’ve seen many times in football too, where there’s a will, there’s a way.

  1. We should never buy South American players all they do is use liverpool as a stepping stone to get to barca or real Madrid, why because they are to lazy to learn our language, and they don’t like a bit of rain.
